The farmhouse Villa Maria, a few kilometers from the main tourist routes of the Amalfi Coast, is located on the slopes of a hill overlooking the picturesque bay of Minori.
The farm is surrounded by an ancient lemon grove that intoxicates guests with the scent of orange blossoms and the typical Amalfi Sfusato lemon, the undisputed protagonist of the landscape and the table. Due to the fragrance and beauty of its lemon and orange groves, Minori was nicknamed the "Narcissus of the Coast".
In addition to the lemon grove, great care is dedicated to the orchard and vegetable garden, as well as the olive trees and vines cultivated in an adjacent plot from which excellent quality wine and fragrant extra virgin olive oil are produced.
Staying at Villa Maria also means getting to know the history of the small town of Minori, a seaside village perhaps less known than nearby Amalfi, Ravello, and Positano, but which has managed to maintain the charm of the past thanks to its characteristic alleys, ancient palaces, and important testimonies of the past, such as the famous Villa Marittima – a patrician residence dating back to the 1st century AD – the Convent of San Nicola (11th century), the remains of the Campanile dell'Annunziata dating back to the 12th century, a vestige of an ancient Moorish settlement, all easily reachable on foot right from the farmhouse.
Minori, once dotted with mills and pasta factories, is part of UNESCO and is nicknamed the "City of Taste" thanks mainly to its solid pasta-making tradition. The N’dunderi, a kind of large gnocchi made with ricotta, and the Scialatielli, shorter and thicker than spaghetti, are considered among the specialties of Minori. Maria, the hostess, has developed her own personal recipe for lemon n’duneri. They are divine!
The sober and comfortable style of the rooms, the simple and genuine cuisine, combined with the friendliness of the owners, make Villa Maria a place dedicated to those who want to discover the most authentic essence of typical Campanian hospitality.
The farm is accessible on foot through a deciduous forest alternating with eighty steps leading to the rooms and the restaurant. We advise our guests to inform us of their arrival time so we can arrange for luggage transport. To reach the town center, which is about 1 km away, a minibus service is available with daily runs approximately every hour (schedules are subject to change depending on the season).
Do you know the land where the lemon trees bloom? (J.W. Goethe)
Covering an area of 2,500 square meters with about 150 plants, the lemon grove represents the true essence of Agriturismo Villa Maria, and those who arrive at the farm cannot help but admire the immense expanse of lemons surrounding the rooms and the restaurant.
Vincenzo loves to tell his guests how, alongside the cultivation of lemons handed down through 4 generations, it was decided to add farmhouse activities, becoming part of the Consortium for the Protection of the "IGP Amalfi Coast Lemon". The typical lemon of the Amalfi Coast, known as the "Sfusato Amalfitano" for its tapered shape, has infinite beneficial properties and is ubiquitous, especially on the table.
The lemon terraces along the entire coastline are characterized by wooden chestnut pergolas and bordered by stone walls, the so-called "macere". In colder periods, they are covered with thin black nets to protect the fruits from frost.
Come and admire our "terrace on infinity" that stretches to the horizon over a sea with turquoise hues.
Welcoming you with a warm handshake and a delicious fresh lemonade are Vincenzo and Maria, the hosts.
Vincenzo captivates guests with his spontaneity and entertaining anecdotes. Maria, on the other hand, lets her dishes speak, reflecting the passion and enthusiasm poured into this activity. Together, they will let you experience and appreciate country life, spending pleasant moments in their company. Vincenzo and Maria have also been featured in various television programs hosted by internationally renowned chefs such as Gennaro Contaldo, James Martin, David Rocco, who have chosen Villa Maria as an ideal destination to highlight the benefits of the Mediterranean diet.
Two simple yet special people who have succeeded in their goal of creating a small corner of paradise suspended between sky and sea.
